I agree. I have reported several bots who mysteriously added me and The LJ Powers That Be removed them fairly quickly.

I'll have to look into this! I have no public entries on this journal yet and I've already picked up one such 'friend'.

They're all Russian bots. If you hover your cursor over their userpic or username, a menu pops up that gives you the option of banning & blocking, which makes their names invisible on your flist and keeps them from posting (though it doesn't remove you from THEIR list, alas; but at least you don't have to see them), AND reporting them to LJ as a suspected bot.

Report them first, then ban&block. They're evil and must be stopped. It's a HUGE problem on LJ, apparently; so many people complained that they created the bot removal option. I got hit with over 600 of them in the space of a few days. Banned and blocked 'em all, and now I'm in the process of reporting them as bots, working off my b&b list...damn Commies!
